Abstract: The wall paintings of the tomb chamber in Milas, which was discovered in 2010, are in very
fragmentary and poor condition. Paintlayer, gilding and figurative paintings were researched.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the type of construction of the grave chamber and the painting
technique of the contained wall paintings. Analysis of damage causes served as the basis for creating
a concept for conservation and restoration of the wallpaintings. Supported by scientific studies and
tests the concept was implemented on a sample surface and an outlook on the future conservation
and restoration work could be defined.
