Overview:

Abstract: This thesis is dealing with an art-technological and preservative-technical analysis and treatment of a Gothic, polychrome composed wooden sculpture from the church Saint Nicolai in Bad Wilsnack. It is one of two maintained presentations of Apostles, which were sheltered during a restoring wall-examination of a ledge, where they have been concealed for 200 years. The figure, which was damaged by calcareous pollution, remainder of colour and plastering was put into a preservative stable and esthetical condition for exhibitions by matching preservative and restoring measures. The removal of the calcareous layer was a special challenge.
