Abstract: In the church of St. Marien in Zorbau fragments of wall paintings of different periods are extant. On the basis of an examination of the church interior one of them was selected for the practical part of the diploma. In the focus of attention was the examination of soluble salts, room climate, and dolomitic lime mortar. The conservation program includes as main points consolidation of paint layer and plaster, grouting and the supplementing of the plaster. Within the theoretical part of the diploma suggestions considering conservation and restoration of the church interior were given. Emphasis was laid on aspects of the room climate
