Anne Heckenbücker: Surface cleaning with aqueous surfactant foams back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: This thesis researches the possibility to clean a variety of sensitive and fragile surfaces with aqueous surfactant foams. It will be tested, if foam can generally be used as a cleaning agent. In addition to that, it will be investigated if foam can regulate the amount of penetrating water and reduce the general amount of cleaning agents used in the process. Based on the theoretic knowledge of phenomenon foam, a new and improved foam recipe will be developed. The so far unknown surfactant Plantacare 818 UP and thickener Methocel A 40M in restoration tech-nology will enter the research field. To observe the foams structural performance on various paint covered surfaces, several standardized test objects and methods will be developed. Based on experimental testing, such as tristimulus value and contact angle measurements, first con-solidated findings using foam as an alternative application method for surface cleaning, will be concluded.
