Overview:

Abstract: The investigation goal was the comparison of two methods of desalination of natural stone. The effectiveness of desalination in the negative pressure procedure was compared, both qualitatively and quantitatively, to the bath / compression method. Artificially salted samples were examined in 3 test series. As practice object, Roman gravestones of the 1. /2. Century after Christi have been considered; all lime sandstones of the basin of Vienne. In the test series of the samples, two variations of the negative pressure demineralization could be examined, which were to be compared with the desalination in the bath. In order to determine the effectiveness of the different methods, the conductivity before, during and also after the desalinations has been measured, and also through ionenchromatographie analyses.
