Annette Kunz: Teplá Monastery in Bohemia - Studies on the architectural surfaces Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The examination of the Premonstratensian Teplá Monastery's facades produced detailed information about several phases of construction and various architectural surfaces. Spanning a period of more than 200 years - since the monastery buildings have been reconstructed by the Bavarian-Bohemian architect Christoph Dientzenhofer - it was possible to reconstruct different facade designs and building materials. The results were confirmed by extensive archive research and illustrations of the monastery. Emphasis was put on the baroque architectural surface which was carried out with coloured plaster.
