Overview:

Abstract: This Thesis deals with the arthistorical conclusions concerning the painting and examinations in the field of restoration, followed by scientific examinations. A main priority for the subject was the removal and reduction of different varnish- and former consolidation-layers.
A chemical-solvent system was developed which made it possible to remove rests off the original varnish-layer from the 17th century. This was tested on small selected areas on the painting-surface.
In addition a draft of treatment for the conservation and restoration work was set up to deal with the Painting, partly deteriorated by fungus.
