Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Subject of this diploma thesis is the investigation of temporary consolidation of archaeological iron with the volatile binder Cyclododecan. Thereby the basic idea was to minimize the irritations of the archaeological material through irreversible synthetics. This survey first presents a test – pattern of consolidating original fragments of archaeological iron with the above mentioned method, which results were directly applied to the treatment of iron artifacts from the late medieval period. Supplementary this thesis gives an introduction to the corrosion of archaeological iron in soil and the composition of iron artifacts with regard to their individuel mineral compound.
