Natalia Gustavson: From Ruins to Castles – Condition report of the topographical views in the Greilllenstein Castle Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: This thesis focusses on the complex problems of caring for paintings outside of enclosed collections, such as museums. Based on the results of a condition report made prior to this study, the Baroque series of topographical views in Greillenstein Castle have been thoroughly examinated from the aspects of conservation and restauration. The collected data were expanded and incorporated in a collection analysis. This led to the development of a detailed catalogue of conservation and restoration measures which could be applied to the paintings, as well as including a programme of maintenance and control for the whole collection. The model restoration of one painting exemplifies the kind of treatment needed for the other works.
