Ute Lehmann: The Hermitage in the "Neuer Garten" to Potsdam - survey of the panelling and assessment of the construction Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The former Eremitage in the New Garden at Potsdam - demolished 1964 - is described in the context of 18th century landscaped country gardens and their decorative park architecture on the base of a variety of sources. Still existing parts of the interior panelling are comprehensively documented, identified and construction details described. Biological attack is presented within the context of the current storage conditions. Remedial treatment priorities are identified. Possible construction options of the interior and exterior of the building are developed on the basis of the presumed 'Bohlenbinderdach', a regional type of roof construction. Options and proposals in respect to the building physics of a possible reconstruction of the Eremitage are derived from this.
