Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The neogothic Schloß Babelsberg was build in two building phases 1834-1837 and 1843-1849. It is a design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The facades show different mineral surfaces: bricks, formed bricks, terracotta, joints cover mortar, lime plaster, hydraulic lime plaster and cement plaster.
This diploma is the first inspection of those mineral surfaces. Bibliographical investigations provided information about the building materials. It was possible to discribe the building phases more precisely after scientific analysis of the plasters and comparison of its grain-size distributions.
