Abstract:	Recent master thesis focusses on the documentation and the materials analysis of a convolute of hand-painted magic lantern glass slides from the inventory of Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nürnberg. Based on the findings of historical sources the current knowledge of the sample of handpainted glasses will be enlarged by using analytical techniques, especially in the form of X-ray fluorescence analysis, UV-VIS spectroscopy and FTIR spectroscopy. Overall, the results allow to draw conclusions on the individual history of the glass slides as well on the manufacturing process and technology. According to the results, the thesis outline a conservation concept which includes appropriate consolidation methods of painted glass layers. Therefore, the suitability of different media are evaluated in various test trails. Top
