Overview:

Abstract: Within the scope of the diploma project the art-technological investigation of the late gothic „Annenretabel“ from 1515 from the Lutheran Trinitatiskirche in Hainichen, Saxony, was carried out. The retable, consisting of two wings painted on both sides and the central shrine with a relief scene, shows a large stock of original material. Particularly noteworthy are the numerous decorative techniques used on the polychrome surface.
Based on the results of the research, a concept for conservation and restoration was drawn up. The implementation of the concept in practical work is limited to the central shrine and its fixtures. The focus is on the preservation and conservation of the inventory, but also on the partial return of reworkings to gothic design.
The present work summarizes the evaluation of the archive research, all research results, the concept and its practical implementation.
