| Abstract: |
This thesis deals with the packaging and transportation of paintings. Against the background of the historical development of art transportation and packaging, the study takes a look at today´s packaging materials - both in terms of the properties of the materials and their suitability for the individual object. Furthermore, the work explains possibilities and examples for conservative action in the preparation and handling of art transports in the sense of sustainable, future-oriented development. In a final step, this analytical presentation is brought together with qualitative surveys with experts in order to be able to offer an even more precise analysis of the everyday practice of art transportation and to come to a better assessment of opportunities for the development of ecological sustainability.
