Abstract: A chest of drawers made by Heinrich Wilhelm Spindler und Johann Melchior Kambli with a marquetry of mother-of-pearl, tortoiseshell, horn, ivory and silver from the upper music chamber of the New Palace at Potsdam is surveyed. After a description of the furniture as an important example of the rococo under Frederick II. (the Great) its materials are surveyed technologically, techniques of marquetry and intarsia are fathomed and a conservation concept is developed for the damage of the marquetry, which is applied on the front valve of the chest of drawers.
