Overview:

Abstract: The late baroque canvas painting „Landscape with castle Štatenberg“, by Franz Ignaz Flurer (1706-1742)
dated to 1730/42, belonging to the Collection of the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere in Vienna, is
aesthetically affected by discolorations of the paintlayers and inappropriate, incomplete interventions from
the past. The focus of this work lies on the reconstruction of these earlier measures, the investigation of
the color-changes and the conservation and restoration of the painting. Special attention is given to the
surface-cleaning, varnish-removal and re-integration of the areas with color-changes, to achieve an aesthetically
pleasing appearance suitable for display.
