The subject of this Bachelor-Thesis, the wooden sculpture 'James the Greater', belongs to the cathedral treasure of the Dom in Halberstadt (Saxony-Anhalt). The subject of this thesis will be the establishment of the extant and the condition of the sculpture as well as a technological investigation comprising a reconstruction of the first paint-layer. Furthermore, the concept of conservation, including appropriate cleaning and consolidation methods of substrate and layers, as well as a restoration concept are being discussed. Finally, several options for the best presentation will be presented and the most favourable one being selected.
