Abstract: The practical part of the diploma document deals with the conservation and restoration of the re-naissance altarpiece in the church of Niepars. The three main pieces of the retable were made of oak. The altar has a height of 184 cm. During the resto-ration of the altarpiece in the 1970s wooden com-pletions have been made. Because of the completions and the losses of wood, the theoretical part of the
diploma document examines the aspects and treatments
of surface of bare wood completions.
