Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Subjects of this work are the technological investigation, conservation and restoration of two late-gothic wooden sculptures from the former church in Witrow. The figures portrait Mary with the child and Saint Dionysius and possess a polychrome painting. Their condition is dominated by various damages and reworkings, which create a heterogeneous picture and optically distort these works of art. Especially obtrusive is an extensive coating on the image of mary with a groundwood compound as well as overpaintings.
