Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Different procedures of filling and replacing losses in furniture and sculptures damaged by insects are described, such as the use of wood cuttings of different size and shape, aiming at high stability; the use of fillers containing binding media such as epoxy resin, silicone or thermoplastics; moulding techniques including methods as known in the conservation of buildings using epoxy resins and glass-fibre rods; the reconstruction of the exterior by bridging the void. Each chapter examines the advantages and disadvantages with regard to the restoration process as well as aspects of durability and reversibility. Questions demanding further research are raised. The restoration of a broken pillar using balsa wood cuttings is described in detail.
