Overview:

Abstract: The practical part of the diploma thesis contains the analysis of the art technology and the preservation technique of the trophy epitaph of Andreas von Schönberg out of the possession of the Sculpture Collection Dresden. A preservation concept was created and the preservation and restoration were carried out. The intent of the preservation was the consolidation of the mount and the cleaning of the surface. Restoring measures were limited to the integration of colors on the visible base coat of a sample axis.
In the theoretical part of the thesis an art-technological analysis of three baroque trophy epitaphs from Saxony was carried out to compare it to the manufacturing technique of the Schönberg epitaph.
