Overview:

Abstract: The following Master thesis deals with “Living Systems” a project of the designer Jerszy Seymour. This living
concept including six pieces of furniture was created for the exhibition “My Home – seven experiments for
contemporary living” at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein. Seymour used polylactic acid (PLA), a
biodegradable Plastic, for these objects. The PLA is examined to ist development, the production and
properties. The center of this thesis is based on developing a concept for restoring the original form and
conserving the material for the future. An important issue is that the objects can be transported and are fit
to be exhibited.
