Abstract: In recent times quality and quality management have taken on greater signifi-cance. Using the example of the Brandenburg Main State Archives it will be ex-amined to which extent quality management can be implemented in procedures of preservation. After an introduction to the subject areas of quality management, organizational groundwork and the prioritization of preservation methods, the preservation processes of selected archives and libraries will be analyzed. The results of this analysis will be a part of the development of a process organization for Restoration on demand for the Brandenburg Main State Archives. This pro-cess will be structured, visualized and described in three sub-processes based on the quality management system DIN EN ISO 9001:2015. In conclusion, ensuing opportunities and challenges for the Brandenburg Main State Archive will be discussed.
