Abstract: Since the beginning of the last century, there have been many arguments about the authenticity of the paintings on the etruscan sarcophagus bought by the royal museum of berlin in 1898.

This paper will discuss the various painted layers using scientific research and non-destructive and minor-destructive analysis methods in order to specify its age and its specific structure.
