Overview:

Abstract: This thesis deals with the multi-part site-specific installation „Barraque D’Dull Odde“ (1961-67) by Joseph Beuys, on view in the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum in Krefeld. This is one of the artist’s last installations in existence that has not been changed after its creation. In order to retain the installation’s authentic presentation, it was decided to keep the installation at its current location, as opposed to de-installation for the museum buildings upcoming renovation. A method of documentation for „Barraque D’Dull Odde“ was developed as part of the thesis. In addition concepts of surface cleaning and damage prevention were also introduced and carried out in preparation for the buildings renovation.
