Abstract: The first chapter‘s purpose is to enable an insight in the life of transilvanian saxonians between the 12th and the 17th century.
The gathered topics of the second chapter serve as a primary extraction source of information regarding the life of the Master Joiner Johannes Reychmuth from Schäßburg.
The topics are progressively presented based on collected information.
The main focus is historical. The text is alternately put together from both primary and secondary sources, whereat great importance is given to topics as the commercial life, the way of organizing the crafts brotherhoods and the role of the artistic crafts.
The history of the brotherhoods is integrated into the text based on documents.
Of major importance, the brotherhood of joiners and the artistic crafts are highly emphasized.
Starting from the fact that the master joiners have performed several types of craft work is the carpenter painting and inlay art therefore discussed in parallel. These are of great importance because the carpenter painting finds its roots in the art of inlays.
The third chapter refers to the steps taken for the direct research of data life of the master joiner Johannes Reychmuth.
Finally, the conclusion is summarized by justifying the result of the research and by explaining the problematic investigation.
