Julia Steinhagen: Neptune's Grotto Potsdam, Object analysis of the wall design of a niche with focus on the leaf garland Back

Abstract: This bachelor thesis concerns on the design of a wall niche, which is located on the inside of the Neptune's Grotto in Potsdam Sanssouci. In the niche a leaf garland made of different materials is positioned, which gets the main attention.
As part of the work, the asset and condition of the niche and the leaf garland is recorded and documented. Even the manufacturing specifications, repairs and possible causes of damage to the wall design are considered. By means of microscopic and scientific studies, also the composition of existing materials and the production process of the leaf garland is explained in detail. Based on the investigation results, a concept to conservation protection to the leaf garland is created.
