Abstract: The Bentwood-chair No. A 811 was designed by Josef Hoffmann and build by Thonet around 1930. This Object will be under examination to find out more about the construction, used materials, technologies and his Art history backround. Doe to the results of the examination the chair was highly altered from caned seat and back to plywood. This is a major change in the appearance of the chair and will be analyzed. After the conservation and restoration concept is worked out the treatment will be implemented to make this Bentwood-chair more presentable for an planned exhibition.
