Abstract: The aim of this Bachelor-Thesis is to examine a collection of middle age chests, which is still in situ in the monastery “Kloster Ebstorf”. This monastery Ebstorf belongs to the six abbeys of heath.

The state of the middle age chests will be comprised to investigate the need for action. For this a condition-report will be developed that is especially adjusted to the condition of the chests. It contains a short identification of the chests, a condition comprehension and an evaluation of the need of action.

Furthermore an environmental analyzes will be implemented. Hereby is reconsidered if the existing phenomenon's and defects are from the actual settings.

Among others the existing phenomena imply blight, white pocket, an animal infestation and a high material humidity. On several chests occur also dimensional diversification and surface defects. Besides the stability is undisclosed that induce to further damages.

Based on this, several chests need an acute need for action.
