Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The thesis deals with the creation of a concept for the conservation and restoration of the grotto made of Roman cement at the terrace wall of the “Bildergalerie” in the “holländischer Garten” of Sanssouci park. The object is by its size, its condition and the extensive use of a nearly forgotten cement a particular challenge. In this thesis, the damage patterns have
been documented. Based on the results of an analysis of the original cement there have been tests in the laboratory and in situ to find out the right technology and recipe for the Roman cement. Tests for consolidation, compressive strength and bending tensile strength and other properties have been done. The results were tested on the object.
