Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The subject of this thesis is the restoration of calcite- alabaster. Because of the trancelucence and the low hardness of this material it is verry challenging to work with. The shallow bowl of calcite- alabaster (inventory number 3169) was handed out from the collection of the egyptian museum of the university Leipzig to the HAWK Hildesheim to get restored again. In this thesis the objekt was cleaned and partially dismantled. The dismantling and the new bonding will be finished after this thesis.
Trials with polyvinyl acetate as a material for the compensation of losses were carried out. This material was presented in the „Journal of the American Institute for Conservation" in 1997.
