Abstract: The Thermoluminescence Dating is known as the routine method for caramic dating and determination of authenticity of ceramic. The precision of this method depends on many influences. That’s why the details aboute the precision of this method are very different. This Master Thesis defines the words “age” and “ceramic” and shows the problems for the restoration. The different scientific methods and possibilities for ceramic dating are shown in this Thesis. Especially the Thermoluminescence-Method with its principles, development and practical application will be explained. The precision of this method will be shown from analyzed test objects. This Master Thesis deals also with the ceramic dating for identification of forgeries and with the question how restorators and museum handles forgeries.
