Overview:

Abstract: At the beginning of this thesis, various possibilities for conservators of gaining information are introduced. It becomes evident that information and communication technologies are becoming increasingly important.
This thesis focuses on tutorials, which transfer contents via the internet, where they can be attended by persons who want to learn.
In basic considerations, the assets and drawbacks of internet-based training are discussed. Especially criteria like time, location, learning efficiency, social and personal settings affect the success of this new way of learning.
Within this thesis different ways and means are presented and investigated, which may lead to successful learning. A special focus is brought on to didactic design and the necessary basics of making a suitable choice of course components. This includes structural and interactive elements.
It becomes clear that students studying conservation on the one hand and conservators already working on the other hand need diversified contents and possibly different course compositions. Based on the cognitions pointed out in this thesis and on a previous course for conservators edited by the Hornemann Institute, a furthergoing structure for internetbased training is developed and discussed, which may possibly meet the requirements of both audiences.
