Gisela Harich-Hamburger: The Agfa-colour plate - Identification, damage analysis, preservation Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The Agfa Colour plate, an early colour process in Germany, is often mistakenly filed in archives under the name of Autochromes, the French process of the Lumière company.
This dissertation aims to indicate some simple means of distinguishing between the processes, using as examples a collection of early colour transparancies from the Bauhaus archive. The main part of this investigation treats of the Agfa Colour plate, its structure, its chemical composition and typical forms of damage.
A restoration concept is evolved for a specific example and hints are given for the protection of Agfa Colour plates.
