Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The present diploma is a research about the suitability of waterborne epoxy resins as a bonding agent for mortars used in stone restauration. The results are compared to both a conventional epoxy resin mortar and to Hilssandstone. Hilssandstone is the material used in the Hubertus-chapel in the Hainberg near Sehlde(Lower Saxony,Germany). This chapel is a converted natural cave whose humid environment prevents the restaurator from using conventional epoxy resin mortars. The mortars based on waterborne epoxy resins are tested on their optical, hygrical an mechanical properties as well as on their reaction to weathering. The aim of this research, apart from finding out about the possibility of the use of waterborne epoxy resins to produce a mortar suitable for the restauration of the Hubertus-chapel, is to give basic statements about mortars based on waterborne epoxy resins.
