Overview:
Abstract: The following Bachelorthesis concerns different possibilities of consolidations of “Baumber-ger Kalksandstein” (sandy limestone). Two different strengtheners were used: colloidal cal-cium hydroxide dissolved in alcohol, and silicic– acid ester with aminosilane as the coupling agent for lime.
While working with calcium hydroxide, the carbonation method was tested for its efficiency. Two different types of aminosilane were examined for their differences in connection with silicic- acid ester. The work focused on the consolidation properties of mixed stones like “Baumberger Kalksandstein”. Due to the unsatisfying possibilities of liquid absorption treat-ment of the stone, there was developed a new way of examining the consolidation. To measure the possibilities of the sealer, different tests concerning optical effect, strength, moisture and deformation were realized. As a result of this work, the different products have been evaluated and therefore a foundation for new scientific questions and papers has been laid.
