| Abstract: | As part of the investigation and conservation of three Evangelist portraits from the 17th century, the severely degraded coating on the fragmentarily preserved paint layer of the "Matthew" portrait was removed. In addition, a follow-up concept was developed to stabilize both the paint layer and the textile support. A backing board, mounted with magnets, is intended to support the textile, which is stretched within the decorative frame. |
