Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: This thesis focuses on the technical examination and conservation of a
seascape from the late work of Karl Hagemeister. The painting was discovered
at Schloss Charlottenburg in Berlin, where it had been folded and rolled together with another seascape. It was stabilized through unrolling, consolidation, cleaning, and the treatment of deformations and damages to the support. In addition, provenance research and comparative examinations of stretchers and canvas mountings from other works by Hagemeister were carried out. The mounting on a new stretcher is intended to be carried out following the submission of the thesis.
