| Abstract: | When embedding rosewood samples in the methacrylate Technovit 2000 LC for cross-section examinations, disturbing phenomena such as fluorescence around the sample, dissolved coatings and gaps between the sample and the embedding medium have been observed. The aim of this work is to determine a suitable embedding method for embedding rosewood with transparent coatings in which the phenomena do not occur and an evaluation of the crosssections is possible. For this purpose, rosewood was embedded in embedding media of different material classes under different polymerization conditions and the occurrence of the phenomena in the cross-section was investigated. A correlation between the embedding media and the phenomena was established, although they could not be completely avoided in any embedding media. |
