Overview:

Abstract: The portrait of an unknown woman on canvas was painted in the late 19th century and lodged at the Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten in Potsdam
in 1953. Presumably before 1969 securing treatments had been executed by adhering patches to the back, applying fillings to the front and by masking the
paintings edges. To enable a complete examination of the original the additions were removed. The obtained knowledge of the objects work technique and its state of preservation facilitated the development of a concept for its conservation
and restoration. Additionally the measures carried out were documented in writing.
