Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The subject of this diploma thesis is the conservation and restoration of two portraits of the von Friesen family, which are now the property of the Stiftungen der Sparkasse Leipzig. The portraits show Christian August Freiherr von Friesen and his wife Marie Charlotte Freifrau von Friesen. The portrait of Christian August is probably not a contemporary painting from the 18th century, but a copy from the 19th century. The main focus of this work, besides the art-technological examination of the objects, is the handling of the altered condition of the objects. Both pictures have already been heavily revised, and the search for a possible model for the portrait of Christian August. Furthermore, a conservation and restoration concept will be created and implemented.
