| Zusammenfassung: | The present diploma thesis deals with the conservation and restoration of the painting Blick aus dem Atelierfenster (1918/1919) by Max Slevogt, which is part of the permanent exhibition at the Bautzen Museum. The main focus of the work was extensive solvent testing for the removal of oil-based retouchings from the oil-bound original paint layer. In parallel, a technological examination of the painting was conducted to better understand Max Slevogt’s painting technique and materials and to place the artwork within its art-historical context. The goal of the overall conservation and restoration was to bring the painting back to a stable condition and to restore its displayability. Following completion of the treatments, the work has now returned to the museum’s permanent exhibition. |
