| Zusammenfassung: | The focus of this diploma thesis is a historicist brass mantel clock housed in the Museum Lilienfeld, for which only limited information regarding its provenance has been preserved. Within the scope of this study, the object is examined from both an art-historical and a technological perspective. Through the analysis of iconographic, heraldic, and stylistic features, insights are gained into its origin, function, and cultural context. The research concentrates on identifying the patron, interpreting the coats of arms and inscriptions, and analysing the materials and techniques employed. In addition, the surface treatment of the clock is examined, and conservation measures for its future presentation at the Museum Lilienfeld are developed and implemented. |
