Zusammenfassung: This thesis examines the working practices of the participants involved in Mischa Kuball’s installation missing link_ in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the complex processes of knowledge transfer both within and beyond Kuball’s studio. Contemporary artworks are often created in close collaboration with experts, whose specific, and often per-son-bound knowledge is indispensable for the realization of these works. In order to make the relevant expertise and transfer processes within the creation process visible, all relevant knowledge holders in the context of missing link_ were identified and their roles analyzed. The focus was placed on their diverse forms of knowledge (explicit, implicit, embodied) as well as their transmission within the collaborative working process. The results demonstrate that each type of knowledge poses particular requirements for transfer and documentation. The results show that the different types of knowledge each pose specific requirements for transfer and documentation. This highlights the necessity of an interdisciplinary approach that enables the capturing and preservation of the diverse bodies of knowledge inherent in contemporary art, in order to ensure the presentation and conservation of such works.
