| Zusammenfassung: | The aim of this master thesis is to determine the scope and extent of the contamination on the three-handed lady, a medieval corpse. Previous microbiological examinations of the three-handed lady revealed the presence of the human pathogenic mould Aspergillus flavus or Aspergillus niger, which resulted in extensive autoclaving. This process caused the bones to fuse together through plastic. With the aim oft he Niedersächsischen Landesamt für Denkmalpflege (NDL) of restoring them, this poses a further problem. The following research questions are posed: Was there an infestation by A. flavus or A. niger and is there still a risk? What methods can be used to remove the plastic residues so that the bone fragments can be reburied? In order to answer these questions, the following microbiological tests were carried out: Cultural cultivation of material samples, the production of adhesive film preparations for microscopic examination and LIVE/DEAD staining methods. The analysis of the tests showed that such an infestation could not be detected and that the contamination was very low. With this information, it was possible to formulate a recommendation for action.Tests with heat were carried out to remove the plastic, which led to a positive result. |
