Zusammenfassung: This thesis presents the first comprehensive investigation of the painter Anton Peschka
(1885–1940) and his son Anton Peschka Jr. (1914–1997). The study focuses on
reconstructing the biographies of both artists, conducting stylistic analyses, and investigating
the materials and techniques of a total of 54 paintings from the Anton Peschka estate in the
Wien Museum. The aim is to clarify the attribution of the works and to investigate the artistic
practice of both artists. For this purpose, a comparative approach to canvas structure
analysis is also tested. Anton Peschka studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, was a
close friend of Egon Schiele, and married Schiele´s sister Gertrude Schiele in 1914. After
1918, he managed Schiele’s estate.
