| Zusammenfassung: | A variety of different adhesives are used in the restoration of wood-brass bondings. Due to the properties of wood to expand and shrink with climatic fluctuations, the requirements for such adhesives are high if they are to last in the long term. Important criteria are known in theory and practice, but there is a lack of reliable data on the various adhesives in order to make an informed, evidence-based selection. This work makes a contribution to creating such a data basis and highlights the challenges involved. In Zugscher tests, seven different collagen-based adhesives and the synthetic PVAc adhesive are tested for their strength. Artificial ageing due to humidity fluctuations is used to test the stability of these adhesives. The results show that the collagen-based adhesives lose strength particularly after artificial ageing and are only durable in the long term under constant climatic conditions. Based on these results, the paper advocates expanding the series of tests and agreeing on standardized criteria for testing. |
