Zusammenfassung: The Votivkirche is one of the most important buildings of the historicism. The pulpit and its sound cover were designed by architect Heinrich von Ferstel and executed by renowned Viennese craftsmen. The focus of the examination lays on the complex structure of the sound cover. In addition to wooden components, modern materials such as steel, zinc sheet and gilded brass were used and screwed together. The condition of the various metals and their corrosion products are clarified with the aid of scientific analyses. The results form the basis for the development of a comprehensive concept of conservation measures. Which includes to deal with the cyanide copper compounds on the gold-plated brass elements. The practical part of the work focuses on the implementation of the proposed measures with the goal to complete the restoration of the sound cover.
